Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre in new work

Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre in Grounds KeepersLos Angeles-based Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre recently announced a new performance entitled The Groundskeepers, which will be presented in the cinematic location of the historic Linda Vista Hospital.

Running November 1-2 and 7-9 at 8 p.m. each evening, The Groundskeepers will focus on the hospital building’s rich history and economical architecture. Artistic Director Heidi Duckler will create a traveling multimedia performance that will animate the environs of the hospital building, including the outdoor fire escape staircase, entryway, chapel, boiler room and outdoor parking lot wall. The dance work will memorialize this Mission Revival-style space before it is rebuilt as affordable housing.

With its hardy architecture and rich history dotted with medical care, transit development and film production, Linda Vista Hospital houses varied stories of recovery and transformation. In The Groundskeepers, eight company dancers present these stories through athletic movement alongside original music.

Choreographed and directed by Heidi Duckler and written by George Moreno, The Groundskeepers will also feature the work of media artist and designer Refik Anadol and CalArts-based lighting designer Grant Dunn. Together they will paint the hospital with stunning projections to illuminate this iconic location before it moves on to its next transformation.

Tickets to The Groundskeepers are $25 for general admission
and $20 for members, students and seniors (60+). For more information, visit www.heididuckler.org.
