Hubbard Street’s 2014 Summer Intensives

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, under the artistic leadership of Glenn Edgerton, will once again offer two full-time, four-week training sessions for pre-professional and early-career dancers in summer 2014. Hubbard Street’s Summer Intensive in Iowa City is for advanced dance students ages 14–17, and runs June 16–July 11, 2014. Hubbard Street’s Summer Intensive in Chicago is for advanced and professional dancers ages 18–24 and runs June 30–July 25, 2014.

In Halsey Hall on the campus of the University of Iowa, Summer Intensive participants study 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students attend technique classes in ballet, modern and yoga, and learn repertory performed by the main company and Hubbard Street 2. Additional classes include Pilates, improvisation techniques and dance discussions. Family and friends are welcome to attend a showing at the conclusion of the Iowa City program. Students are housed at the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel, just a short walk from the studios. Fees include chaperone supervision, breakfast and dinner daily, wireless internet, double-occupancy rooms with weekly linen and cleaning services, and access to hotel amenities.

At the Hubbard Street Dance Center in Chicago’s West Loop, Summer Intensive participants study 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students attend technique classes in ballet, modern and yoga, and learn repertory performed by the main company. Additional classes include Pilates, partnering, improvisation techniques and dance discussions. Family and friends are welcome to attend a showing at the conclusion of the Chicago program.
