Iconic N. Hollywood studio unveils remodeling

North Hollywood dance studioDebbie Reynolds Legacy Studios, formerly just “Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio”, will celebrate its Grand Opening tomorrow, Saturday, February 10. With tremendous support from the dance community, the new owners have completed a three-month, $75,000+ remodel. They are proud to unveil new art, new programs, the Legacy Wall of Fame, new spaces such as Debbie’s Closet and the Carrie Fisher Black Box Theatre, and more.

The iconic North Hollywood dance studio founded by Debbie Reynolds in 1979 was slated for auction in October as part of the personal property collection she owned with daughter Carrie Fisher. Saving the studio from an uncertain fate, new owners Marie and Austin Wright and Teresa Espinosa kicked off major renovations to the landmark dance studio mid-December with a public painting party featuring DJ Shakee, dancing with the choreographers behind Magic Mike, Janet and Michael Jackson and other celebrities, and free food from Fat Sal’s Deli.

Now, this weekend’s Grand Opening Celebration invites the community to come out, walk the Gold Carpet, see the official Ribbon Cutting and enjoy giveaways, live music, performances, cocktails and yummy food (vegan options included). Debbie Reynolds Legacy Studios is located at 6514 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood.

The full Saturday schedule includes donation-based Wellness Classes in the Zen Room, with Reiki led by Shyrelle Kalilikane from 1-2 p.m. and a Foam Rolling Class with Jason Holmes from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The Master Classes in Thriller Studio (D) are $20 each or $35 for both, with 1-2:30 p.m. Hip-Hop with Bam Martin from the Kinjaz Dojo and 4-5:30 p.m. Popin Pete. Then at 7 p.m. Step and Repeat with Press begins.

The free cocktail hour runs from 7-8 p.m. The Ribbon Cutting and Debbie Reynolds Painting Unveiling is set for 8:30 p.m. Afterwards the performances and party get underway. The Food Trucks attending include The Falafel Factory, D.R.E.A.M. Donut Truck, The Big Cheese Truck, Acai Dream Bowl, The Surfer Taco, The Chicken and Waffle Factory and Begnosis.

“We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating with you!” exclaimed the new owners on social media.
