Louise Reichlin & Dancers is hiring

Los Angeles Choreographers & DancersLouise Reichlin & Dancers in Los Angeles is auditioning for male and female dancers of all ethnic types for its 2018-19 Season. The company, which is known for “presenting soulful, imaginative dance works that takes audience members on their own journey of self-discovery,” held its first auditions May 31 and will soon hold more on June 5 and 10.

Contracts include paid performances and associated teaching activities, as well as rehearsal honorarium. Rehearsal times are set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday when in full preparation for the season.

Auditioning dancers should have professional modern/contemporary technique, strong ballet and jazz backgrounds, a robust stage presence, candid expressiveness and meaningful musicality. Floor work and the ability to improvise are important. Tap is useful if other areas are strong, but not required. To see some of the styles look at www.YouTube.com/LouiseReichlin. Louise Reichlin & Dancers burst into the public eye in 1979 with its first performance at the Anson Ford Theatre when Reichlin created The Tennis Dances. Over the years Reichlin has consistently created provocative works. Recently, the company created a shorter version of The Patchwork Girl of Oz and toured it. In January, the troupe returned to Las Vegas for two full performances. It currently has a master contract with the LA Unified, and this season had 21 residencies with about 420 workshops and 40 performances at schools in the Los Angeles area, both curriculum based and after school. The company, a performing unit of Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers, has planned both local shows and some touring for next season.
