Manhattan Youth Ballet at MMAC this weekend

Manhattan Youth Ballet With Regard 2015 ProgramManhattan Youth Ballet will present With RegardIn Practice & Performance this Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30. In addition, this world-class training institution will present A Gala Benefit Honoring Marina Stavitskaya this Sunday, May 31. All performances will be presented at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center (MMAC).

 

In Practice & Performance will feature premieres by choreographers Brian Reeder, Marina Stavitskaya, Daniel Ulbricht, Frederick Earl Mosley and Natalia Boesch, as well as George Balanchine’s Valse Fantaisie. Performance times are Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 30 at 3 and 7 p.m.

 

The next day, these students will be joined by guest artists to honor the legacy of Marina Stavitskaya, who previously danced for 15 years as a soloist at the Kirov Ballet and Maly Theatre. She now serves as Head of Classical Repertoire for Manhattan Youth Ballet, pulling upon her experience as a former faculty member of the School of American Ballet and an instructor with Ballet Arts, Carnegie Hall, Harkness Ballet School, Metropolitan Opera Ballet Company, Vienna Ballet Company, Royal Swedish Ballet, Cullberg Ballet, Finnish National Opera, HET National Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet and the Academie de Danse Classique in Monte Carlo.

 

The gala benefit will feature special performances by guest artists and alumni from American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet.
