Nickerson-Rossi Dance in Palm Springs

Nickerson-Rossi DanceNew modern dance company Nickerson-Rossi Dance will present fresh contemporary works at Palm Springs Art Museum’s Annenberg Theater on January 15, 2013.

Ambition and authenticity is the heartbeat of Nickerson-Rossi Dance Company and the small ensemble is excited to share their passion for the art of dance.

Led by dynamic dancer Michael Nickerson-Rossi, the company fuses modern dance, jazz, ballet and hip-hop. Rossi’s choreography is influenced by training he received in Northern California under Lori Bryhni and Kim T. Davis, and tends to juxtapose composition, sophistication and dynamism.

Rossi’s work Remembering The Unremembered performed at the Center Stage Theatre in Santa Barbara, California for the SB-ADAPT Festival in summer 2011, where a critic called his choreography ” the most romantic work of the festival.”

His professional experience, which also affects his choreography, includes working with Off-Balance Dance Company, Kim T. Davis Dance, SJ Dance CO, Torrance Theatre Company, Pennington Dance Group and Invertigo Dance Theatre.

In 2008, Rossi founded Nickerson-Rossi Dance. Since then his work has premiered in cities such as San Diego, Huntington Beach, Torrance, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Salt Lake City.

After Nickerson-Rossi Dance received non-profit status, the company has also begun to develop the outreach project The uNdeRstanD Program designed to assist at-risk and otherwise emotionally unexpressed individuals through dance education.

Nickerson-Rossi Dance invites the public to an exciting and innovative celebration of beauty and skill as the company performs on January 15. An opening reception and post-performance cocktail supper with the performers is included.
