Open call for 100+ dancers in NYC
Buglisi Dance Theatre is partnering with Steps on Broadway, Dance/NYC, The September Concert and friends from the New York City dance community to present the fourth year of The Table of Silence Project 9/11 at Lincoln Center.
This project is a multi-cultural prayer for peace, realized through a transcendent ceremony for 100+ dancers that carries out the vision of choreographer Jacqulyn Buglisi and artist Rossella Vasta. The site-specific work is a poetic call for tolerance and peace in our world. For the 13th anniversary of 9/11, Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi invites all dancers with professional experience to join her for this powerful message of peace from the cultural capital of America to the world.
The Table of Silence Project 9/11 ceremony takes place on the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center on Thursday, September 11 at 8:15 a.m. Since 2011, over 400 dancers have participated in The Table of Silence, which has been viewed via live stream in 45 states and 82 countries.
The open call for professional dancers is Wednesday, August 20 at 7:45 p.m. at Steps on Broadway, NYC. Rehearsal and callbacks will be Thursday, August 21 at 3 p.m.
Dancers must pre-register by August 14 by emailing their full name, phone number, photo and resume to email@example.com with “Table of Silence – Steps” in the subject line.
The rehearsal period will run August 21 thru September 10, with the performance being Thursday, September 11 at Lincoln Center.
“The Table of Silence Project represents the common threads of humanity that unite all mankind into a single force with common goals and aspirations regardless of race, culture or religion,” said Jacqulyn Buglisi.
She added, “Through this event, we wish to achieve the dual purpose of celebrating and honoring peace, through listening, a united moment of silence – a call for peace in our world.”
