PCDC hosts NY workshop and audition

Peridance Contemporary Dance Company Workshop and AuditionNew York’s Peridance Contemporary Dance Company (PCDC) has been a powerhouse of energetic and evocative dance since its inception in 1983. The company, known for Artistic Director Igal Perry’s timelessly elegant and brilliantly musical choreography, will host a five-day workshop for advanced dancers preceding company auditions on Saturday, August 30.

The workshop, set for Monday to Friday, August 25-29, will be from 12 to 2 p.m. each day, with classes in ballet, contemporary, improvisation and repertoire.

Following the weeklong workshop, the company will also conduct an open audition for male and female dancers on Saturday, August 30. All dancers must have excellent ballet and contemporary technique, versatility, musicality and stage presence. (All current PCDC dancers are classically trained – they hail from Japan, Korea, USA, Spain and Columbia.)

Company contracts run for a full year starting September 2014 and include national and international touring. All rehearsals and performances are paid. Strong ballet and contemporary technique required.

Interested dancers should e-mail their resume, headshot and dance photo to pcdc@peridance.com with “PCDC Audition” as the subject line.

PCDC is housed within Peridance Capezio Center in the Union Square area of New York City, with the beautiful Salvatore Capezio Theater as its resident performance venue.
