Registration now open for Dance Proms 2014

Dance Proms 2013 at Royal Albert HallCalling all teachers! Registration is now open for Dance Proms 2014! Dance Proms is an international celebration of dance, dancers and dance teachers that produces a live performance experience every year at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London. Dance teachers from around the world can enter their students, aged between five and 21 years, to perform an original dance piece in any dance style or technique at the annual November gala performance.

As a partnership project between three of the world’s leading dance training and awarding bodies, Dance Proms organizes and facilitates a one-of-a-kind dance performance experience that unites dancers from all over the world. It was founded in 2011 when the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA), and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) joined forces with the Royal Albert Hall.

Discussing Dance Proms, Caroline Miller, the director of Dance UK, said, “The sheer number and breadth of young talented dancers who take part is absolutely fantastic and a testament to the amazing dance teachers working around the world.”

Now in it’s fourth year, Dance Proms invites dance teachers to submit entries for their students to perform at Royal Albert Hall on November 2. All current dance-teaching members of the IDTA, ISTD and RAD, wherever they are located in the world, can register to enter their dance piece. They simply must submit an original piece of choreography online to be viewed by an esteemed panel of professionals. The panel will select a limited number of entries to go on to perform at the 2014 event.

Dance Proms is a fantastic opportunity for dance teachers to display their work on a hugely prestigious stage. Plus, it offers an unforgettable experience for students.

Registration is open until April 27. Officials are looking for a wide variety of dance styles, ages and group sizes. Visit Dance Proms’ website to view the specific terms and conditions. For those who are not planning on entering but simply want to go and show support, tickets go on sale in March. Go to www.danceproms.co.uk for more information.
