Visceral Dance Chicago premieres ‘Synapse’

Synapse by Artistic Director Nick PupilloVisceral Dance Chicago will continue its 2016-17 Season with SPRINGFOUR on April 8 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park, the third mainstage Chicago performance of the company’s fourth season. It will include a world premiere entitled Synapse by Artistic Director Nick Pupillo, commissioned for the company by the Harris Theater.

Synapse is being billed as an “LED-light immersive experience that will stimulate the audience with a responsive interaction with music, dance and lighting.” Electrical energy will join the driving house beat of Darryl Hoffman’s work.

The SPRINGFOUR program will also see Canadian-based choreographer Mark Godden set his technically-charged Minor Threat on the company. Coming from Montreal, his choreography in Minor Threat promises to showcase each of the dancer’s “versatility and strength.” It’s set to Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor No. 20.

In addition, the SPRINGFOUR program will also mark the return of Pupillo’s Atlas and Mónica Cervantes’ exploration of fast-paced relationships in Changes.
