Lucy Sexton Steps Down as Executive Director of The Bessies

The Steering Committee of the NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, announced today that Lucy Sexton, who has served as Executive Director of The Bessies since 2009, is stepping down to expand her work in cultural advocacy with New Yorkers for Culture & Arts and to pursue new creative projects. She will continue in an advisory role until the end of January 2020. Michele Thompson joins the organization as Interim Executive Director.

Le Corsaire at London Coliseum

Having delighted audiences of more than 100,000 around the world with tours including Japan, Paris, and Spain, Le Corsaire returns to the London Coliseum (January 8-14). The only UK company to perform the complete work, English National Ballet’s production was staged by Anna-Marie Holmes and features sets by Hollywood designer Bob Ringwood, and a sweeping score performed live by English National Ballet Philharmonic.

The Connecticut Dance Alliance (CDA) will host the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Dance on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in Hartford from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The annual event, which features master classes, seminars and panel discussions, was created by the CDA to honor and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy and teachings, as well as the significant contributions made by people of color to the world of dance.

Prix de Lausanne 2020 Jury members and Interlude International ballet competition – Auditorium Stravinski

The 48th Prix de Lausanne jury panel will be presided by Frédéric Olivieri, Director of the Scala in Milan and Prize Winner of the Prix de Lausanne 1977. Among the artistic collaborators, Nicolas Le Riche, Etoile of the Paris Opera Ballet and actual Director of the Royal Swedish Ballet, will be the coach for the male candidates’ variations. During the Interlude, the performance will be the 3rd edition of the Partner School Choreographic Project, choreographed by Mauro Bigonzetti, with 26 of the world’s best students reunited in Montreux for a unique creation, as well as a performance by dancers from the Royal Ballet School of London. The registrations for the 2nd edition of the Summer Intensive – European Preselection are open.
