Whelan joins Ballet Academy East faculty

Principal Dancer Wendy WhelanAfter 30 years of dancing with New York City Ballet, Principal Dancer Wendy Whelan announced in April that her final performance with the company will be on October 18. As one of many exciting opportunities she has received since her announcement, she has been invited to join the Pre-Professional Division Faculty at Ballet Academy East in New York. Her tenure will begin with Ballet Academy East's Summer Intensive from August 18-29 and will continue through the school year.

Northern Ballet to tour 'The Great Gatsby'

Northern Ballet presents The Great GatsbyThe Northern Ballet, a prolific ballet company based in Leeds, U.K., will present David Nixon's The Great Gatsby on September 23-27 at New Victoria Theatre in Woking. Awards will present her original choreography in a full-length show featuring 25 dancers from major companies like Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Miami City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet.
